Collaborative learning differs from traditional teaching approaches because students work together rather than compete with each other individually.

Collaborative learning or Co-operative learning involves pupils working with each other being responsible for their own and each other’s learning. Collaborative learning takes group work to a new level. Individualistic learning has generally been the pattern in most schools. The goal is to achieve the best standard that the individual can, regardless of anyone else. It’s all about competition: but the workplace demands team players. Business wants people who are able to interact effectively, reach consensus after everyone has voiced an opinion and work together. This is called co-operation or collaboration and it is a skill that needs to be taught, practised, evaluated and developed in children from a young age.
